API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection

A pressure vessel is a closed vessel, designed to withstand gases or liquids at a pressure substantially different from ambient pressure, either by internal pressure or external pressure, regardless of its shape and dimensions. When the internal design of a container exceeds 15 psi, it will be known as a pressure vessel.

For the verification of compliance with the API-510 code, we have authorized API-510 Inspector personnel for the evaluation of pressure vessels, who have carried out the evaluation of vessels inside the process plants in refineries, petrochemical plants, processing complexes gas and pressure vessels in offshore installations.

API-510 code is a post-construction code that applies to pressure vessels after they have been put into service. The API-510 code is used for inspection, shelf-life determination, and repair activities.

Applying different Non-Destructive Tests to evaluate the integrity of pressure vessels, it is possible to determine the useful life and detect possible anomalies that require repair or reconsideration work depending on the API-510 Inspector’s recommendations.

The inspection services comply with the provisions of API-510 include the following non-destructive tests:

  • Thickness measurement.
  • Visual inspection.
  • Thickness measurement with remote equipment.
  • Evaluation of welded joints with Phase Array Ultrasound.
  • Plate mapping for evaluation of areas with low thickness with high-speed remote scanner (RMS).
  • Inspection of welds with PT and/or MT.
  • Carrying out metallography and hardness measurement.
  • Technical recommendations and results prepared by the API 510 inspector.
