Visual Inspection

Visual testing is an important Non-Destructive Test in the broad field of non-destructive testing. Visual Inspection is used to locate surface anomalies in most materials and subsurface discontinuities in translucent materials. Visual Inspection is performed by a direct technique or by a remote technique (ie indirect). One definition of the direct technique is to place the eye within 600 mm (24 in.) And not less than 30 degrees from the test surface. Mirrors can be used to improve the viewing angle, and auxiliary aids such as magnifying glasses can be used to aid in examinations.

The remote or indirect technique can include accessories such as mirrors, borescopes, video probes, or cameras to correct distance or viewing angles. With a remote (indirect) technique, the resolution should be equivalent to that of the direct technique.

Grupo PIESADEC has personnel certified as Level II by ISO-9712 and/or SNT-TC-1A in Visual Inspection, we have videoscope equipment to perform remote visual inspection (indirect) in equipment where it is not possible to inspect conventionally.
